When the Windows 7 beta period ends and Microsoft releases the "finished" version, will beta users be required to remove and reinstall?

When it comes time for beta users to purchase Windows 7 to continue using it, will it be possible to just purchase a product key from Microsoft and keep the code they have on the machine, or will the "release candidate" be identical to the product released?

Windows beta 7 will deactivate on Aug. 1 2009 and be unusable. There are ways you can hack around this though. But you would be stuck with old, unsupported and insecure beta software.

From what I've heard, Yes a complete reinstall will be required. There is no upgrade path. If you want to keep current check out Paul Thurrott (http://www.winsupersite.com/). He has solid contacts at MS

You will likely need to uninstall the beta and reinstall your purchased copy. This was the case with the Vista release candidate.

There will be such a long time difference between when the beta expires and when the release candidate is available that you will need to reinstall something on your computer in the mean time, unless you are willing to let the computer sit and do nothing, or unless you have a dual boot system.
