Windows on the MAC. Problems.

I run Windows XP-Pro on a MAC Pro.

I have used boot camp - hated it. Very slow and don't like to reboot every time I want to run something on another OS.

I am now using VM Ware.

Two things drive me crazy.

The mouse pointer disappears once or twice a day. Altogether - Both OS's
The only way to get it back is do the F3 thing and right click a couple of times on the background.

The other thing is that every time I turn off the Mac or install software updates, it turns off my printer sharing settings.

Quick Answer: Vmware Fusion should be updated to the latest release, version 2.0.5 (Link: http://www.vmware.com/download/fusion/). It is a free update to all registered owners.

Second, what type of mouse are you using. I had this problem but it went away after I updated VMWARE and reinstalled the VMWARE tools inside of Windows.

Now then....I prefer BootCamp because of the speed that I gain from it..and I run windows 7 x64 bit mode on the Mac Pro so it works like a dream. Now that Snow Leopard is out, Bootcamp 3.0 makes the drivers work in 32bit and 64bit mode and makes the machine purr like a kitty. :)

Hope that helps somewhat.

Bootcamp should run perfectly. Did you install the drivers in windows from the OS X CD that came with the mac? If you did not do that, Windows will be very slow and useless. It should be a grey disk. Put it in while in bootcamp, and it will start driver install right away. On a note, VMWare will be slower than running windows native in graphical operations. If you have a wireless mouse with almost dead batteries, that will also cause you issues. Try fresh batteries. If it is not wireless, then I don't know what the issue is.

Good luck! :)
