Okay, seriously, seriously... What was the civil war originally over, Mr. President? It ended up ending slavery, one of the most important changes in our country's history. Yet, I heard that the original big issue was state's rights: the north wanted to unite the country more tightly by limiting state's rights, and the south were strongly for them.
I find it interesting that today, so many Republicans are strongly pro state's rights, the same position that allowed for slavery in the first place.

M$I would have asked what impact he felt yellow journalism had on his decision to go to war.
I would ask him if he felt American imperialism betrayed the ideals of American democracy.

M$Here are my questions for him:
Why elevate Sen. Sherman to the State Department? And was he really senile? How senile are we talking? How well could he really function in his post? Honestly? It's just me and you here talkin'...
If your presidency had continued indefinitely, what other countries or territories would you have like to annex?

Actually this is not a bad idea for a question. I don't think that anyone yet has suggested asking this of one of the post civil war Presidents. Perhaps because we know why the Civil War was fought. Still, it would be interesting to hear a view from one of them.
