Up until about nine years ago, my car got left outside at an apartment when I was home. When I moved into this house, it had an attached garage with an automatic garage door opener. I sure have made use of that garage since I moved here. I think cars and vehicles last longer and look better by being protected from the weather. If I had to I wouldn't mind parking my car outside again. However, I really like my garage.

It is always better for a car to be put in a garage everynight and kept out of the weather for the paint. But if it's just an ordinary car and you have to park it outside it's only a car. But when you work in Midtown Manhattan you have to park in a garage as there is no place to park on the street. If I lived in a highrise I would expect underground parking. If you live in more rural sections then people just park in their yards. Where I live now there are still people who don't lock their houses when they go out.

Our garage is full of junk. I mean full.

We park our truck outside -- but -- we use a dashboard screen to protect the dash from cracking due to exposure to the sun. It is pretty normal around here for people's garages to be full of junk. Most people park in the driveway (and drive on the parkway, as the old Gallagher joke goes).

Yes I will park outside because garage parking and underground parking are quite expensive and I can't afford it. If I am visiting a place for a short time why should I even bother to pay when I can park on the street for 25 cents . Parking garages and underground parking is $6.00 to $25.00 an hour here in Manhattan,NY.

Makes sense. I have no idea why anyone would ever consider leaving their car unlocked, but for some reason it still happens all the time. I don't get it.

Some people actually leave their cars empty and unlocked because the glass for their cars is too expensive to replace. Antique cars are often unlocked, and I've heard many people actually leave their Jeeps unlocked because the plastic for those windows is really expensive.

I'm happy to park outside. Cars are meant to be outdoors, and it's not worth the money to pay for underground parking. Parking garages also have break-ins, and they don't usually guarantee any kind of security, so it's sort of all the same. I make sure that there's nothing visible in my car, so there's no incentive to break in.

I haven't had a garage in about 5 years, so I'm used to parking outside. If I had a choice of course I would choose to park in a garage, simply so that I didn't have to brush snow off the car! And it wouldn't be 100 degrees inside it in the summer. But for the most part, it doesn't matter.
