Will there be another civil war in the U.S.?

I agree our civilization is on its way downhill. Anyone who has studied the history of ancient Rome can see that there are parallels going back over 50 years.

M$We will see a "civil" war in the sense of one group or groups trying to use economic and social pressures to try and bend one group of people to their way of thinking/living. minor fighting may become a reality, but for the most part, the US is past it's high point as a nation and is on it's way down, just as the Egyptian, Roman, and British empires eventually faded from glory.
The next major center of civilization and influence will likely be China/Central Asia/India

M$However, recent congresses and state legislatures have started moving towards restricting this freedom of information. Public schools are to become the latest method of indoctrinating kids without informational consent of their parents. Congress is looking to start reigning in the media with laws such as the "fairness doctrine", which can easily be used by the party in power to control the press.
It may take awhile, but different parts of the country are going to be turned against each other. I've noticed through all of my travels within the U.S., people in different areas and of different cultures have already been segregating themselves. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before discrimination against a minority (political minority -- I'm not talking about race) gets so overwhelming that civil war will break out.

M$Currently, there is a strong divide between liberal and conservative, Republican and Democrat. We have ideological differences on such things as abortion, homosexuality, global warming, etc. The split is so strong, and the differences so emphasized in each ideology, that there is no room for real productive communication. Even the notion of disagreement with respect is fading by the wayside.
A good example is Obama's choice of Rick Warren to lead a prayer during the inauguration. Many Liberals are angry because Warren was for Proposition 8 in California, which specified marriage to be between one man and one woman, and ruling out gay marriage. Many Conservatives, on the other hand, are angry because Obama is Pro-Choice, supporting abortion.
Both sides are angry because their ideological boundaries have been challenged. They don't see this as an opportunity to join together, but use it as an excuse to cause more division, and create more divisiveness.
So at this point in history, if there were a civil war, it would most likely be because of this Liberal/Conservative divide. All the more reason Obama needs to live up to his promise to bridge the gap between parties, and all the more reason we need to follow that example.
