Will the Washington Wizards become a strong playoffs contender next season (2010 –2011 NBA Season) since they have the first

pick in the June NBA Draft?

The beleaguered Washington Wizards finished the 2009-2010 NBA season as the second worst team in the Eastern Conference and the third worst team in the league, with a dismal record of 26-56 win loss slate. Their main gun on the team, Gilbert Arenas just played 32 games for the Wizards. He was on an indefinite suspension without pay after carrying and displaying a handgun last December 21, 2009.
With their first pick they can be able to bolster their line up with either a big point guard from Kentucky in John Wall who happens to be the best collegiate player nowadays or might opt for a versatile player in 6-7 Evan Turner of Ohio State. Will the new first pick help the skidding Wizards, what do you think?

With the addition of top pick John Wall in the 2010 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards should automatically become a better team. Wall will step on to team that already features All-Star Gilbert Arenas, who averaged 22.6 points and 7.2 assists per game last year. In addition, the Wizards have steady, consistent players in Mike Miller and Josh Howard. The big weakness that I see preventing the Wizards from getting to the playoffs is the lack of a dominant force in the middle. Noone on the team averaged more than 7 rebounds per game or as many as two blocked shots per game. The Wizards have too large a hill to climb to make the playoffs. They were 15 games behind the Chicago Bulls and also have the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers ahead of them.
