Will the Sims 3 work well with an Inspiron 1525, has anyone tried?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That depends on what's in your laptop. According to the official game site at EASims.com, the minimum requirements are as follows:

---quote---

Windows XP

* Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
* 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
* 128 MB video card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

Windows Vista

* Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
* 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1.5 GB RAM
* At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
* 128 MB video card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:

* Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA X3000 or above
* 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
* 0.5 GB additional RAM

Mac System Requirements

* Mac OS 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
* Intel Core Duo Processor
* 2 GB of RAM
* At least 6.5 free hard drive space, with at least 1GB additional space for custom content
* ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
* Supported video cards: ATI Radeon™ series X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600, HD 3870, HD 4850, HD 4870; NVIDIA GeForce series 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400M, 9600M GT, GT 120, GT 130; Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA 3-Series. This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards. Laptop version of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

Supported Video Cards

NVIDIA GeForce series
FX 5900, FX 5950
6200, 6500, 6600, 6800,
7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280

ATI Radeon™ series
9500, 9600, 9800
X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
2400, 2600, 2900
3450, 3650, 3850, 3870,
4850, 4870

Intel® Extreme Graphics
GMA X3x00 series

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Intel integrated chipsets featuring underclocked parts will not perform adequately.

Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

Note: Attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn't listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.

---end quote---

If your computer has the minimum hardware, then it should run Sims 3. Not sure of what's in your computer? The easiest way to find out is to go to http://www.dell.com and do a search for your model. I ended up at this page, which is where you would enter the service tag code to see exactly what the factory put into your system. Basically, I searched for the Inspiron 1525, then clicked on "Dell Inspiron 1525 Support," then clicked on "System Configuration Information."

It depends on the the specs. From graphic card perspective, The Sims 3 would work with Intel GMA X3x00 series. If your Inspiron 1525 has Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, it should work technically. Other things that you need to consider:
For Windows XP, the processor needs to be 2.0 GHz or above and 1 GB RAM.
For Windows Vista, the processor needs to be 2.4 GHz or above and 1.5 GB RAM.
Please note, the above is minimum requirements. The better the specifications are the better the game will run.
