Will the PS3 slim get you to buy a new console?

Tip for best answer: M$0.50
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes. I would definitely buy this new version of the PlayStation 3. The main reason for this is the price of the system currently $299 US a lot cheaper than the original price when it debut on November 17, 2006 for nearly $700 US. What Sony has done this time is give us a slimmer version this means less space being taken up on your room divider etc and it is very light. This system "use of a high-definition optical disc format, Blu-ray Disc, as its primary storage medium.10 The PS3 was also the first Blu-ray 2.0-compliant Blu-ray player on the market.(quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playstation_3 " allows you to watch crystal clear videos. It also allows you access to its "unified online gaming service, the PlayStation Network,(quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playstation_3). This system is a great buy you cannot lose out on buying it it has a huge amount of multimedia capabilities, you can also play previous Playstation 2 games, when you buy the system you will be getting a bluray disc state of the art optical disc storage medium, the new version is more energy efficient "consumes 34% less power than previous models". This system is the best one to buy right now and you have to take into consideration the amount of games that Sony and the developers will make for the system which would be a wide variety of genres unlike the other two competing systems. Smart move by Sony.

I had originally pre-ordered the ps3 slim...however after reading some detailed reviews I decided to cancel.

My only issue...it takes enough time to start up a Blu-Ray movie and the Slim supposedly is slower then the older model of the ps3 which you can find for a lot less, if you look around.

Unfortunately, I will wait for Sony to update the Slim's firmware before I venture out for one. Also...it is my thought that one should wait for the product to release and get out in the world before buying...this way the early adopters can figure out the issues, report them, and have them fixed.

Although the PS3 slim is a good deal for a blu-ray player and general media center, i will not be buying one.

I do not have an HD tv and have no plans to buy one soon.

I usually have my laptop or iphone near me, so the media center aspects are just not as compelling.

The biggest issue though is lack of any games i am interested in.

The problem with games today is that the only real difference between modern games, and games from 10 years ago are graphics. Which makes me feel like i am just playing the same thing as i did years ago.

So i am not going to be getting a PS3 Slim
