Taking herbal supplements can help you stay in good health. Their effects have not been thoroughly studied by the FDA. This means their efficacy has never been thoroughly documented. But taking herbal supplements can benefit your health.
That being said, taking any herbal supplement is risky. Most herbal supplements are not ordinarily found in our food, meaning that it is not something that has ever naturally been in your diet. Ginkgo, chamomile and echinacea are probably harmless enough (and may be beneficial) in small doses. You need to be extremely careful with how much you take. Too much of anything can be poisonous to your liver. Too much ginkgo in particular can make you nervous and jittery, just like any other stimulant.

Ginkgo. This herb's stimulant power is said to have ancient mystical roots - its extract comes from the world's most ancient tree species.

In general, I would only buy herbal supplements from a grocery or specialty store (like GNC) and only take the amount specified on the bottle.
