Roy Halladay has probably been the most consistent pitcher in all of baseball for the last five years. He most certainly is classified as a horse and eats up innings like the normal person would a piece of German Chocolate cake. When it comes to a big game there is probably no better pitcher in the game and the guy just flat out stays relatively injury free. With his move to the National League, and the fact that history has shown that good American League pitchers only get better with the move, Cliff Lee as an example, the Philadelphia crowd is in for a treat. He probably has one of the most productive lineups in Major League Baseball backing him, so viola, the only question is whether he will win more than 25 games. The Toronto Blue Jays gained a lot of young prospects in the trade, but look out National League. Here comes Roy. I am sure the American League will not miss him. Having to face only 8 proven hitters instead of 9 during a full season will only enhance Roy's end-of-season stats. So YES, I do believe he will win the "Cy Young" award in the National League, and come All Star time he will probably be a big asset to the NL All Star team as it tries to break the American League strangle-hold.

Yes, I think Roy Halladay is the favorite to win the MVP and will win the award this season. He is playing on a team that will almost always give him lots of run support. His ERA might not be the lowest in the league, (although you make a great point that his ERA will be lower in the National League without the presence of the DH) and he probalby wont lead the league in strikeouts, both of those honors could go to Tim Lincecum. But Halladay will still have great numbers, an ERA below 3 and should have over 200 strikeouts, over 200 innings picthed, will lead the league in complete games and with the Phillies offense, could win 20 to 25 games. I believe he's the best overall pitcher in the Major Leagues and look to see him take the Cy Young Award this season. As much as he dominated with Toronto, I look to see him dominate more in the National Leauge against teams and players that haven't seen much of him, if at all.

I think it's a definite possibility, but I wouldn't say he's the favorite. The unbelievably fast start the Ubaldo Jiminez has gotten off to I think puts him in the lead, just ahead of the Freak, Tim Lincecum. I don't think Jiminez is going to finish out the year anywhere near what he's at now, and unfortunately it's not his fault. Playing at a park like Coors field will balloon up anyones ERA, and it's just a matter of time before Jiminez falls prey.

I think when all is said and done, Lincecum is going to be taking home yet another CY Young award. The combination of the pressure of playing on a team that isn't going to score a lot of runs, and playing in a pitchers park like AT&T, will put him around 18-4 or so, with an ERA of about 2 and the league lead in strikeouts like usual.
