Will President Hu get lobster?
A state dinner coming up; so what are your predictions about the menu? And what the First Lady will wear?
From the past:
"Likewise, what First Lady Michelle Obama will wear is hush-hush. During the last two state dinners for Chinese presidents, in 1985 and 1997, first ladies wore look-at-me ensembles. Hillary Rodham Clinton chose a lavender, off-the-shoulder gown by Chinese American designer Vera Wang. Nancy Reagan wore a red traditional Chinese cheongsam, a gift from China's first lady.
Hu is traveling without his spouse.
If recent history is any indication, look for a menu of American food and wine. The Clintons chose chilled lobster and pepper-crusted Oregon beef at the 1997 dinner for Jiang Zemin; the Reagans selected lobster and tenderloin of veal for Li Xiannian's in 1985."
It would be nice if they included some good American beers this time. Beer is a huge and booming industry in China.
