Will people (lazily) answer questions on Mahalo Answers by just doing Google searches and providing links?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

We're looking for well-researched, original answers that are written by the person asking.
A couple of links as citations or a modest clip is fair (use), but when we see bad answers we delete them.
You can help by selecting NO to helpful answer AND by reporting things.
In the future we will probably automatically turn off/collapse answers with three not helpful votes. so, community policing is best.

M$Oh yes. I know. Anyone can do a simple google search. Just not everyone I guess can give their own worded explanations.
I like your approach of using links as a source, but still taking the time to answer the question in your own words. I hope more people like you answer my future Mahalo questions. :)
I find myself getting frustrated if I could answer a question by doing a simple search (remember, Mahalo is a search engine first). If I can find it by typing a few words into a search engine, then ANYONE can.
Haha well thank you. :)
A popular article titled, "Is Google Making Us Stupid" by Nicholas Carr appeared in The Atlantic magazine. I highly recommend reading it.

M$I agree! When you use links to support your answer, that is totally cool. Sometimes a wiki article or web page can explain things better... What I am complaining about though really, is just when people answer things by just providing links from a simple Google search instead of taking the time to formulate an answer. :) I guess a part of me thinks: "If you know the answer tell me and give me your resources! If you don't, please don't waste my time with links from a Google search... I can do that myself!" :P
