Will Jamarcus Russell ever be a starting quarteback again?
Of course there is some debate as to whether or not Russell is the new biggest bust in NFL draft history, he was recently dropped by the Oakland Raiders and I’m wondering if there will ever be a team that would be nutty enough to give Russell a chance to start behind center again. The guy doesn’t even seem to WANT to really play football, just sit back and live off his huge first contract, but eventually I’m sure he’ll go looking for a job. Is his NFL career over? Will he catch on somewhere as a backup?

I agree with you that Jamarcus Russell doesn't even appar all that interested to even play football. As for being the biggest bust in NFL Draft history, I still think that distinction goes to Ryan Leaf. At least Russell had one somewhat decent season in 2008 with a satisfactory 13 to 8 touchdown to interception ratio and 2,423 yards. But last season certainly paralleled those dreadful seasons by Ryan Leaf. Russell completed just 48.8 percent of his passes with a woeful 3 to 11 touchdown to interception ratio. He might catch on as a backup somewhere in the league. He does have great size, maybe too big at 260 pounds. Perhaps he should dedicate himself during and offseason to lose a few pounds. The question is his desire. If he really doesn't have any desire to play there is no way he will EVER be a starting quarterback in any professional league and perhaps wont even be a backup. The choice is entirely his. Work hard and prove you can play, or be out of the league.
