Cutting your food intake to 1500 calories per day or less is a great way to start to lose weight, but whether it is effective or not depends on how much exercise you are getting. Some people can burn 1500 calories per day just by doing everyday activities, like breathing and walking to the restroom. However, for small women in particular, 1500 calories a day may be too many calories if you are very sedentary.
In addtion, while you may lost weight at that level of calorie intake regardless of what form the calories take that does not mean you are beign healthy. Choosing to eat carbs, sugars and fats or not requires a balance. Many of the vitamins and minerals your body needs are found in plants, so if all you ever eat are chocolate bars, you are not providing your body with sufficient nutrition to be healthy. While in theory you could lose weight eating nothing but junk food so long as you kep the calorie count lower than the amount of calories you burned through exercise, healthy weight loss requires a balanced diet and exercise combined.

I applied the same formula to keep my weight down...by taking low calories but to make up these calories by junk food, andi was successful in that.but its not a healthy life style.A healthy young person needs 2100-2300 kcal per day, with a sydentary life style.so 1500 kcal can reduce ur weight by just doing daily activities.but its rather much effective if u go for a healthy balnced diet which includes carbohydrtaes, protiens, fats n minerals in right proportion plus regular exercise.i have left the previous formula of low calorie junk food and have chosen healthy diet plus exercise...i feel much enegetic with ideal body weight.one tip to decrease sugar desire is to take a glass of water with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice in it and stop watching tempting food commercials.hope it will help you.

This answer had some good information but was made less effective by inattention to grammar, spelling, and capitalization. Using "u" for "you", and "ur" for "you are" or "you're", is appropriate for text messaging, but lacks credibility on a Q&A site.

When given a choice between two fairly equal answers, I'll always choose the one that's well written and easy to read.

Nevertheless, I want to welcome you to Mahalo. The Mahalo Answers community can certainly benefit from your knowledge in this area, and we hope to hear more from you.
