Will heel spurs go away without surgery?
I am thinking that rest will allow my heel spur to get better, but it's hard to stay off of my feet except at night when I'm done with all my business for the day. Any home treatments for this condition to avoid having to have surgery? Any help would be appreciated.

Heel spurs are bone growths caused by calcium deposits, and usually appear on the heels of the foot. They can be caused by osteoarthritis or some other degenerative joint disease, or if tendons or ligaments have become calcified and are subjected to repeated trauma. Whatever the cause, heel spurs can be excruciating.
Some of the suggestions for heel spur relief are fairly obvious. Wear properly fitting, rubber heeled shoes, avoid walking on hard surfaces like cement floors, and using orthodics like heel cradles. Stretching exercises may also help.
Other suggestions are:
*Alternate between hot and ice packs
*Apply hot flax or linseed oil packs.
*Soak your feet in arnica and chamomile
*Taking calcium and magnesium supplements
Some of the natural anti-inflammatory supplements that may help are:
*Shark cartilage
*Kelp
*Evening Primrose Oil
*Glucosamine sulfate
Naturally, you should consult your physician before taking any supplements.
