Jonny Lang ain't just a singer, he's a virtuoso guitar player, so I've gotta believe she has the chops to do well in the competition...but of course it's not only about chops but about how marketable you are to a pop audience. That'll be the most telling thing for Jesse, will she be able to crossover and be more than just one thing to a large audience.

Any type of previous involvement in the music industry will help a contestant to some extent. Growing up as a kid, regardless of if the parent is actively involved in your life, you still see their lifestyle. And, as kids will, they will attempt to emulate their parents. Where this comes into play is that she has probably been driven from a very young age to excel in the music industry. Plus, they have seen the effects and what it takes to be successful. All of this will work to her advantage..
She has the raw talent to be there, now it will be about image and work ethic. I would think, from what I've seen, that she is marketable enough(as long as you have the basics, your PR peeps will do the rest). The rest comes down to work ethic and ability to handle the lifestyle, and coming from that background I would think that she does. So, yes, it should help.

Not if she can't carry a tune ( even if it comes in a bucket), doesn't matter who's famous in her family. Thank goodness it's Jonny. He is amazing in concerts (saw him 3 times), and excellent CDs he popped out. My point is, she either has "it", or she hasn't. Being related to someone who can sing, doesn't make you one, unless you can sing. Period.
