Will everyone please look out for this user and report them?
Report everything he posts anywhere on Mahalo.
He has different usernames every day or so and ALWAYS posts spam... everything he posts is spam.
Please be on the look out for his posting they are to a website that starts... http://www.shnock.com/
I do not know how but he is making it difficult for me to search for his postings.. I would like some help in finding them and reporting them to Mahalo.

Are all of these searches as people look for the posts actually encouraging the spammer? And with the number of hits, it sounds like an automated attack or a group of individuals on a mission. Good luck identifying and blocking the IP address. Here are some of the particulars, from WhoIs and Alexa:

Alexa is a site that tracks traffic and things like individual or repeat hits, number of links, etc.
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/shnock.com#trafficstats
If you click through the pages you'll find a lot of information about their origination (Pakistan) and their traffic (increasing a lot right now--perhaps due to all of this Mahalo attention?)
It could be a chicken/egg question--which came first, the attention to Mahalo from Shnock, or the attention from Mahalo to Shnock? It is difficult to get people to leave a thing alone, like not picking at a scab, but perhaps an IP address block and not having a lot of attention from various members of this community is the way to quiet their diligence.
Just a thought.

M$neahhh @pixelsilva....this is not a hacker...just another bored spammer...he will quit soon...no worries...
But..BE ON ALERT!
Vlad
I think that guy was related to the CES convention at Las Vegas according with his profile entries yesterday...
Thanks Vlad! a Tip for you!
@vladis, I saw those at the "Recent Activity" menu on @Johnashford profile, just when budda posted the warning. I check it out and that info is now gone. But it was there.... so strange.
There were two or three entries all mentioning something about that CES convention, so I figured it out he was a member of that event, or at least attending it... ¿Is it possible to erase that profile info?
Attention everyone! He is back or it is a different person spamming the same "shnock" website. Keep searching Mahalo Answers for "shnock" and look for this username
@brownchbrownch
http://www.mahalo.com/member/brownchbrownch
Do not let then get away with this.
I just vanished his first posting but there will be more.
Thanks....but no need!
I appreciate it but you spent enough for this
So...Tip back! :)
Vlad
Those names should be an indication:
@johnashford = John Ash Ford
@brownchbrownch = Brown Ch
....hummm... sounds like the name of an actor or something. This Spammers an Hackers love to play with names.
How do you know is him?
On it! :D
Hey @pixelsilva. I can't see those entries. Where are they?
Thank you @lotusla. TBH the first image creeps me out!:)))
nice images, @vladis, yes we need more sets of eyes to pin down this spammer.
thanks, @buddawigi for this warning. we are on the look out for it.
I've been keeping my eye out and not seen anything since.. good job people!
Don´t know much about spamming...but I think the guy was related to that SEC event at Las Vegas....

2040? Yeah they've been busy little buggers haven't they.
You may want to add a robots.txt NOINDEX/NOFOLLOW approach to entries that contain shnocks.com (dynamically, server side). Spam is useless if it can't be found.

M$Just an FYI, I've been up reporting spam questions for a while now. Most are from anonymous. I guess insomnia does have its perks after all!
You're welcome! I actually find it kind of fun to report spam. I like to write something funny in the "reason" box hoping to make the reviewer laugh or at least smile. =P
Thanks for your help!
I couldn’t see examples of his spam questions.
If we can see pattern of his spam questions, we may device a better way to prevent the spam.
Is it always a link to to a particular webpage of a website ?
1. Report the post -> delete post
2. Report the Mahalo user -> take away privilege to ask question, ban IP
3. Report the website/webpage being linked to -> put it in spammer list so that it can’t appear in question..(?)
I wonder whether it’s hard work to do this.
4. (tongue-in-cheek, wicked smile) the spammers be put in a “virtual make-believe spammer paradise”, the questions they post will be in a spammer’s webpage, mixed with some make-believe non-spammer questions and the links they put will lead to nowhere. No other peoples will be able to see their questions except all the spammers. They see their questions being posted and will come back again and again to spam, like worker bees, contributing traffic to Mahalo. Other non-spammer users will not see their questions. Win-win-win.
Much like how some anti-hack measure where hacker is led to make-believe virtual space.
But Shnock is not a user-based website and no money, points etc. earned for the user. Just wonder why.

M$Our efforts have rid Mahalo of this user for now, until he pops up again like he has before either under a different username or IP address.
I was just hoping to get the Mahalo Answers Street Team (us.. me you everyone) all together on the same page and aware that this guy was doing this spamming.
Every little bit counts.
Here is a tip for your suggestions and help!
@buddawiggi
Thanks.
I re-tip you back. I think it's not right for me to receive your tip in this matter :-)
Inform us when you see this person re-appears.

I like the way you operate. Thanks for the help.
Thank you for the vote! Blocking out spammers, who can spoil the pleasure people get from a nice site, is a form of trench warfare, isn't it?
