Will Cat Power release this song "ground control to major tom" to the public? On Itunes? or in a new album?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

G'day Cincicline,

Thank you for your question.

I assume you mean "Space Oddity". Express Night Out says that it is unreleased although that she has made covers the focus of her career.

The song is called "Space Oddity.

The original version was performed by David Bowie in 1969 and became his first big hit. It was used by the BBC as its theme for the Apollo 11 moon landing.

This is what it sounds like in case you haven't heard it.

The song on the Lincoln commercial is NOT David Bowie's "Space Oddity", though many seem to think so. The song is "Major Tom", and is a Peter Schilling cover.. which is in fact a somewhat of a retelling of Bowie's song.. BUT a completely different song with different lyrics. An unbelievable amount of people are completely ignorant to this fact.

Schilling's "Major Tom" has been a favorite of mine for many years. A completely fantastic song that has actually spawned many cover versions.

Scorchedblood,
Just to clarify, covers of both Bowie's "Space Oddity" (by Cat Power/Chan Marshall) and Schilling's "Major Tom" (by Shiny Toy Guns) have been used in Lincoln commercials.

This is the David Bowie song. Peter Schillings cover was done by Shiney Toy Guns for a diffrent Car commerchal... if you are such a fan you should have realized that.
