Will AT&T's bid to acquire T-Mobile be approved by regulators?
What are the pros and cons of this possible deal?
Why should or should not regulators approve this deal?
I am thinking it will be and would like to know that if this deal does become approved and done how do you feel this will effect the standard and mobile communication markets?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

No.
And don't let any of the following scare you either.
The fcc, ftc, as well as the department of justice will most certainly step in because of the probability of the GSM spectrum being under a single autonomy. Not to mention it would create less choice for consumers and swallow up T-Mobile USAs' uncrontrolled account customer service base.
Don't be confused by all of the mobile virtual operators out there, who like us also have either the choice to use tmobile USA(voicestream) or AT&T(cingular)'s network or both.
ie: tracfone
So i definitely see trouble and speculation headed at&t wireless's way.
The only good thing that could come from all of this is if at&t dropped controlled account restrictions for current tmobile controlled account users and conformed to existing CIC policy that AT&T wireless currently has without changing current customers rates or freedoms and ?vise versa?.
Also the HIGHLY unlikely resource savings. (one bill,no roam handovers etc)
I say highly unlikely because initially a network merger will take up a great deal of work as well as kill a great deal of US jobs.
This will also probably put a bunch of T-Mobile USA corporate stores and sub-affiliates on the chopping block.
As for the adoption of a global wireless network.
LTE is a global paradigm and is just another way of controlling user base.
This is a bad match for consumers.
On a personal and strategic note:
This spells nothing but trouble and higher prices for customers.
Until CIC policy is reformed across the board and services like googlevoice, umail and VoIP are allowed clear DID and handoff manipulation it's G722/729 over wifi for me.
Ooma and their proprietary codecs might also be an option if they drop their current adopted ICC intentions and created their own. All in all i don't see that happening for a very long long time and not without pressure from current premium customers.
VoIP with G729 over whitespace and Wifi is the way to go.

Shameless android plug.
I implore everyone to push open solutions for global rom reverse LED indication polarity on open platforms, gate community based grass root networks and finally a enhanced Infrared 2.0 adopted initiative for all android phones.

By the way, i don't work for any corporate employer.
A little hint tho these guys are scared to death of line of sight wireless options, and like i said if those big words and acronyms above scare you don't let them, that's what big companies want.

I miss being able to tweet answers :-/
- sorry double post.
Multicast and mesh networking is also a topic i didnt bring up, but that's a hole other long comment for other questions. On a entirely different subject.
All in all on those topics we need a better application for complimenting current RDS (radio distribution system) based networks.
One better than spot and directband, a better compression scheme for either or a entirely new complimenting delivery method.
I think the B.A.T.M.A.N initiative that was recently introduced into the latest Linux kernel addresses these topics partially in the FOSS community but isn't a long term solution.
