How do I get HP wireless assistant to work?

its a hp pavilion dv 2120us and i cant get the hp wireless assistant to work. it shows up in the control panel but when you click it it doesn't do any thing. windows can't find the hardware and the switch won't turn the light on its just red. it had xp and worked fine after upgrading it to vista 64 it quit working

edit: the laptop is vista ready and has a 64 bit turion x2

It is very possible the network card in the laptop does not work in the 64bit version of Vista. While I am a fan of Vista the 64bit has a lot of compatibility problems that would make me suggest people stay away from it.
