Why won't my copy of Professor Layton (on my new DSi) see the working wi-fi conection?

So I just went to download the "dlc" extra puzzles that are available with Professor Layton and the Curious Village. However, I got an error stating that I wasn't connected to wi-fi. I double-checked. Yes, I was connected.

So I went back in & started the wi-fi activation (through the game menu), in case I had to show the game that I was indeed connected, but it just took me to the basic DS wi-fi settings (the basic settings, not the advanced) which demand either an open connection or a WEP secure connection. I use WPA2 so I rely on the DSi's advance settings to get online.

Sadly, there did not seem to be any way to get Professor Layton to see my active wi-fi connection. Has anyone experienced this on their DSi? Is there a solution? or another way to get the "dlc".

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to a post on the nintendo tech forums:
"WPA cant be used on DS games. Only DSi ware, the shop, and the browser."

Emphasis on DS games.

Try downloading the content from a public location with wi-fi, like a library, the next time you're out. Not exactly convenient, but worth a shot.

Thanks for digging that up. I searched there as well, but didn't find that. Its nice to have an answer to this.

Using a public wifi spot is a great idea! I'll definitely take my DSi out with me today and do just that.

Some DS games don't like wireless connections that use WEP-Open and required to use WEP-Shared although it could be that your wireless settings are set up incorrectly such as wrong WEP key.

you can try looking at: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/connection.jsp#addTopics
