Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Blackfoot Confederacy is made of four tribes: the North Peigan, the South Peigan, the Kainai Nation, and a fourth tribe that what we know as "the Blackfoot tribe."

The Blackfoot tribe actually refer to themselves as "Siksikáwa," meaning "black feet" ("sik" means "black," the "s" in the middle connects the two words, "iká" means "foot," and the "wa" at the end makes it plural).

Wikipedia says:

--quote--
The name is said to have come from the color of the peoples’ leather shoes, or moccasins. They had typically dyed or painted the bottoms of their moccasins black, but one story claimed that the Siksika walked through ashes of prairie fires, which in turn colored the bottoms of their moccasins black.
