Why was Masaccio the most innovative painter of his generation.

Massacio was considered the most innovative of his time due to the new techniques he implemented in his paintings. Two of the most important are Humanism (seen in his frescoes) and the Vanishing Point. His techniques differed from those of his peers--they were still using the old Gothic style of painting.

Masaccio was the most innovative painter of his time because while all his contemporaries were still painting in the old Gothic style, he was painting with a scientific perspective. His frescoes were more realistic and natural. He took painting from being extremely ornate to more human and relatable.
