Juicy Campus is shutting down due to financial strain.

The Web site JuicyCampus.com, popular among college students across the United States, was recently shut down due to financial strain.
A letter written by Juicy Campus founder Matt Ivester, a graduate of Duke University, named tanking ad revenues as the culprit in the demise of the site. "In these historically difficult economic times, online ad revenue has plummeted and venture capital funding has dissolved," said the letter, published on the official Juicy Campus blog site. "Juicy Campus' exponential growth outpaced our ability to muster the resources needed to survive this economic downturn, and as a result, we are closing down the site as of Feb. 5, 2009."
