Why Steve Jobs doesn't like USB?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Apple championed the Firewire specification.
Firewire was faster then USB for V1 and V2 but USB V3 is faster than Firewire.
Apple licensed Firewire to manufacturers and so earned money from it. That is why Steve Jobs maybe doesn't like USB. Not his companies preferred and investtd in format.
USB appears to be going to win out but both have been on many systems since their inception. Even now a lot of external enclosures for hard drives have both Firewire and USB connectors.
All Apple computers have Firewire. All non-apple PCs have USB - and some have Firewire too.

Well I think its an answer :-)
Either he doesn't get any money from it,
or he thinks his tech is "better" and USB is no good.
Either way he won't put usb on an apple device.
Technically:
Firewire has a data transfer rate of up to either 400Mbps or 800Mbps (depending on the standard)
A single Firewire port can connect up to 63 devices
USB1 has a max transfer rate of 12Mbps and 127 devices
USB 2 has 480Mbps transfer rate
USB 3 has 4800Mbps
There are no firewire to USB converter cables except one which is for cameras only and uses the miniDV connector.

I guess Steve wants you to buy a combined USB and firewire hub and drag that around.
What does that mean? Championed? Apple is so close that I can't believe it. Maybe they should try to implement Apple talk protocol again and try to change Ethernet. I don't get this.. Why can't I attach something on iPad. It's crazy. And after a year he will sell another 2 mill's of iPad with USB 3... so strange.. any thoughts ? this is not an answer to my question.. Why he hates USB.. He could have put USB 3 on iPad.. I just don't know.. So lame
