Why (or How) can my Mahalo balance be off by $0.25? Where did my quarter go?

I noticed today that the total amount of tips earned is $628.25 according to my profile and my balance also ends in $.25 so that seems accurate.

However, tip received says I have earned $587.50.

Now, I understand how these two numbers will differ in whole dollars (because it does not factor in direct questions) but it should not be off by fractions of a dollar because you must put whole dollar amounts on direct questions.

However, the only way to earn quarters was by answering and getting best answer on questions Mahalo placed the amount on.

You have to cash out whole amounts (I believe).

You can't put a $0.25 on a question.

When I counted how many $.25 questions I won, I got 46. That would put the amount at 11.50. So, what I'm wondering is where did my quarter go?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Here is your answer: In your tip section
The following questions are tipped twice
Do Betta Fish change colors?
Who has a photo of Freida Pinto at the Oscars 2009?
Virgina Madsen Academy Awards Dress - who has a photo?
So .75 dollars is added in the tip section
Hope it helps

I'm not sure Darcy, and I don't know if the community can answer this one for you, could you please send an email to contact@mahalo.com with details so the accounting department can look into your account and find out what went wrong.

But that would be so logical and make sense. I'm having way too much fun with people's theories here.

Did one of the Mahalo funded questions that you won decrease in value?

I've noticed that not all questions stay at M$1 when they're funded by Mahalo. I think that @jasoncalacanis may have commented on this when he announced that the M$1 funding would continue through until April.

I hope that you get this figured out, Darcy and that it's not part of a larger issue.

One might think that, but I have yet to see a question go from $1 to $0.25

They tip is removed, not decreased in value.

1) you miscounted

2) Mahalo messed up (it happens!)
Mahalo has cheated me of a few bucks too-they removed a question of mine and did not give me the 2 bucks back (although they said they would).

Oh welllll...

I didn't miscount. I copied and pasted into Microsoft Word and let it count for me. Besides, my counting doesn't matter--Mahalo's counting is off.

Someone tipped your reply (not your answer) to a question. So it wouldn't show up in tips received from best answers.

This is just a guess... but I swear that's what happened to me.

Tips can only be in whole dollars.

Yep. You can only tip in whole dollars. Only Mahalo can add fractions of dollars to questions.
