why mahalo is called mahalo ?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

We named it Mahalo because that is the Hawaiian word for "thank you," and we wanted to create that spirit at the site--a spirit of helping.

Mahalo means "Thank You" in Hawaiian. Since mahalo.com contains user generated content, the name is very appropriate.

If you learn just two words in Hawaiian, learn these: Aloha and Mahalo.

On a spiritual level, "Aloha" is an invocation of the Divine and "Mahalo" is a Divine blessing. Both are acknowledgments of the Divinity that dwells within and without.

So, as an answer to your question: Probably the founder of Mahalo - Mr. Jason Calacanis, is divinely blessed, that's why he named his human-powered search engine "Mahalo". :-)
