Why is there something instead of nothing?
Do you think this is a legitimate metaphysical question? Pure garbage? Tell me!

It's legitimate: you can see Heidegger use this as a formal basis for why we feel anxiety (we feel suspended amongst Nothingness) in an earlier essay, "What is Metaphysics?" In "Introduction to Metaphysics," he uses a meditation on this question to open up a host of ancient philosophical works and concerns. The issues get too technical to discuss here, but it suffices to say they don't merely stay on an existential, personal level. They start fleshing out concepts like logos (speech/reason), phusis (nature), telos (end), and bringing into light how it is we conceive of any problem in the first place, not just ones we term "philosophical."
