Why is there so much underage drinking on the Gossip Girl show?
I can't help but notice the HUGE amount of drinking on Gossip Girl. I know that these are suppose to be socialites of Manhattan. However, is it really that big of a common occurrence with the rich underage people being allowed to order drinks at restaurants and clubs within the states? I think the shows outtake on underage drinking is unrealistic or is it?

Thanks, cpi, for asking that. I didn't know 'bout that aspect, and one of my kids likes that show. I watched some of it the other night (the season premiere. How old are those characters supposed to be?

I just watched season's one and two. In those seasons, the main characters are from 15 to 18 years old. In the first two seasons they are in high school. I know when I was in high school, some kids would drink, but it was hard to get and didn't take place in public places. I know other countries have lower drinking ages, but this takes place in New York. So I guess in the current season they might be beginning to reach the legal drinking age. But still maybe not... probably about 17 to 20 in the new series.
