The kids-in-mind.com web site rates movies on a scale of 0 (none) to 10 (lots) in three categories and also gives detailed descriptions. Planet 51 was rated a 3 in Sex/Nudity, 3 in Violence/Gore, and 2 in Profanity. This might help explain the PG rating.
