Why is my Wordpress blog hosted on Dreamhost so obnoxiously slow?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Probably because the SQL tables need to be optimized.

You can easily optimize your repair the SQL tables with the Wordpress Plugin WP-DB Manager.

i would also check the plug-ins like univrsltransl8r suggested. they usually are the first thing to slow down a site.

You may need to optimize and repair all of the SQL tables that your Wordpress install uses.

If you have a lot of wordpress add-ons/plug-ins it can significantly slow your site. Try disabling all your plug-ins (if you have several running) and see if it improves. If it does, you may try turning them back on one by one until you notice performance loss and decide which ones may be causing the problems, or which ones to cut. If that doesn't help, you may try contacting your host and see what they have to say.

Are you using a big .htaccess file?
What kind of blogs are we talking about? A normal text one? Which template are you using, link please?
