Why is John Gruden going to be calling games on Monday Night Football?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

He is taking Tony Kornheiser's place, who wanted to leave because he afraid of flying.

There were no answers when I posted. Tony Kornheiser actually twittered it, and the dallas news source is the first result in google.

He is replacing Tony Kornheiser who has decided to step down from the MNF booth. He cited his fear of flying as a major reason in no longer working Monday Night Football. He will still however work on PTI. Check out the link I've included for a Dallas Morning News article on this.

If Madden hadn't retired, John Gruden would not be in the booth. But you already "refuted" that fact.

You are wrong Matt. Madden retiring had nothing to do with it. Madden was working for NBC at the time of his retirement Gruden's job is with ESPN.

Actually that is wrong. Madden did not call Monday Night Football last year. He was with NBC which has the rights to Sunday Night Football.
