Why is it that you have to pay for JaJah and Jaxtr to call internationally and Talkster is a free service?

Why is Talkster free to use, whereas services like Jaxtr and JaJah are pay to call? Can you also compare this service to MobiVoX and Rebtel?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's add supported - In exchange for free calling worldwide, we simply ask that you listen to a short audio advertisement that in turn covers the cost of your call. The others are not.

Talkster works to connect 2 local calls together so that you can take advantage of call bundles and free minutes from your carriers. As local calls are so much cheaper than international or long distance, the savings can be massive. The other advantage, beyond price, is that Talkster is connecting local calls which in most cases are higher quality than cheap international connections. The end result are free (or extremely cheap) calls AND high call quality. Oh, and it also works for group calls for up to 6 people at once, all calling local numbers.
