Why is it that whenever I brush my teeth right before bed, my breath smells worse in the morning then when I forget?

Because most of the time toothpaste has sugar in it, and if you don't brush/scrape your tongue, it will lead to bad breath. The same thing happens with a lot of breath mints. You get fresh breath for a bit, but then it gets bad because of the sugar on your tongue attracts bacteria which leads to bad breath.
