Why is it so important to buy a puppy that is AKC registered? Or is it?
I have 4 English Bulldogs and they are registered with the American Kennel Club. When we purchased our dogs as puppies we just simply filled out the paperwork, mailed it in and received our dogs papers. We have not taken a moment to even consider why. It is just something our parents have always done, so we do the same. Is it really important to buy a puppy that is AKC registered? What are the benefits to purchasing a puppy that is AKC registered?

Accordingly it was discussed that "without an AKC registration number, their dog cannot be entered in dog shows, companion dog events, or performance events....any offspring of their dog (if breeding is a viable option) cannot be registered....."
