This all encompassing theory combined with "360" being easily identified (branded) with an orb / sphere make it a strong addition to the Xbox name that was established in the previous generation of consoles.

Although, truth be known, I think that the Xbox 360 is a great system. I just bought a PS3 is all.
Interestingly, Microsoft was (reportedly) going back and forth between adding the "360" to the Xbox brand and "Pure". In my mind, both represent a holistic view to entertainment and would appropriately name this generation of console.
