Why is Advair so expensive?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Advair is expensive because the drug company has a patent on the drug. When I new drug comes out on the market, a generic substitute is not allowed for a certain amount of time (the time frame depends on the patent).
Sometimes drug companies will even change the chemical compound ever so slightly to extend the patent period since this is the real money making period for the company with a new drug.
This link offers alternatives and a direct number to the manufacturer that offers a program for people who cannot afford it.
Good luck.

M$Or, if that doesn't pan out, then ask your doc to give you the generic equivalents of the two drugs in Advair (though they may end up being administered separately)
You can try the programs the above two people have suggested, but my guess is that you won't qualify, or only for a limited time.
Good luck...
