Why does Toronto have a team in the MLB at all. Toronto is not part of the USA. There are no other non USA teams playing.

The Blue Jays were not the only Canadian team when they expanded into the league in 1976, the Montreal Expos were already in the league but they have since moved to Washington.

Toronto was granted a franchise by Major League Baseball.
