Why does pushing a Nerf gun forward as you fire it improve its range?

The change is really quite drastic!

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Because the gun already has momentum the bullet is already moving inside the gun with it. when you pull the trigger it is shot with its normal speed, plus the speed you were pushing it at. Because the bullet has more speed, Newtons 2nd law gives it a greater force and allows it to travel farther.
(His second law states that Force = Mass x Acceleration, and here you are increaseing its acceleration)

It's physics. Pushing the gun forward imparts additional momentum to the dart. Imagine running really fast on top of a train moving forward. If you were then to jump from the train, you would be traveling, relative to the ground (and disregarding wind resistance), at the speed of the train + your running speed.

The same thing holds for the dart being pushed forward by the firing mechanism of the gun as well as your hand.

Conspiracy.

I think this has to do with the extra momentum generated by pushing the gun out in front of you.

Also, it's a nerf conspiracy.
