Why does Obama use different pens when signing a bill?

At the 2:20 mark of this video when Obama signs, he switches pens a few times?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It is not just Obama. Many presidents have switch pens for every document signed. These pens are then given as gifts to dignitaries, museums, originator of the documents and other associated reasons.

@nushka I don't think you're referring to me or toofat2serve. For clarity in the future when making comments, place the @ sign followed by the person's name.
