Why does lint accumulate in my bellybutton?

This has been scientifically studied, and the scientist won an Ignobel prize in 2002. The results were not conclusive. However, they pointed to hair on the lower stomach as having the most correlation. Males get the most lint. The referenced site tells you a lot about bbl.

Because the area can be moist most of the time, it will catch and hold the cloth fibers from clothing. The problem is compounded if you have an "innie "versus an "outie"

It doesn't accumulate there. It's actually manufactured there. People think that lint comes from clothing fibres and so on but actually it's secreted by the the bellybutton rather like a spider's web. It's designed to protect the bellybutton and stop you messing with it because if you unscrew your bellybutton your ass will fall off.
