It only seems that way to non-whites who are racist.
My own ancestors were prevented from working, by racists.

I don't know where you live but in NYC you see racist in every race. You can see black people with microphones on corners talking about the white devils and how he has found a way to rise against them. You can go downtown and see the chinese try to chase other races out of their neighborhood. There is racism all over and in all races. That is why you see street gangs divided into races. There are no whites or hispanics in the Bloods and vice-a-versa for the other gangs. When Kerry lost the election to Bush a newscaster caught Russell Simmons, the recording mogul, getting into a car and said to him "what happen your boy lost?". He answered I don't know where all them white people on welfare were but I know my family voted. Now if a wealthy white person made that comment, in reverse-I don't know where all them black welfare ...., it would have been all over the news and people asking for apoligies. Al Sharpton would have been marching etc., etc.. The problem is white people let these comments go by and it is accepted as the norm. How many times have we seen a black comedian doing the 1950's white guy jokes to the point of being the same old stupid thing. Try to do black face in a comedy club and there would be a riot. The truth is it is just harder for white people to yell racism against someone because the europeans did so much to so many, but you can't blame people who weren't around when it happened. When a white person yells racism you always get an answer about what happened centuries ago and how it our turn now.

I think it's not that only white people CAN be racist, but that white people are the ones who tend to be viewed as being racist. Any one can be a racist against any other race, however because at least in my opinion, people have a weak knowledge of human history they somehow feel that white people have never been the victim of racism and are somehow responsible for every wrong done due to race in existence. Which is non-sense considering every race on the planet has at some point been enslaved by another race.

It's a subject that annoys me greatly.

It is lamentable, but racism occurs within every ethnic group on the planet. The thing to remember about all the ethnic groups in the world is that these groups are made up of individuals. Racism is an issue which every individual decides for themselves, and thus, it can rear its ugly head just as much in an African-American or an Asian or a Native-American. It can even occur in people who live in the most remote of societies, such as the Inuit or the Polynesian Islander. Anytime two or more peoples, two or more cultures come into contact with each other, sadly, there is a possibility of racism becoming a factor in the relationship between them.

It seems as if racism grows out of racial pride, or is a corruption of it. To some, no doubt, being proud of what one is does not appear to be enough, and that sense of insecurity might just be one of the main causes of the development of racism, as the insecurity drives people to lessen other groups in order to make their own look better.

Sadly, racism is more strongly associated with Caucasians in many people's minds because, of all the subraces of human beings on this planet, the racism of Caucasians has been higher-profile, better-funded, and gets more media coverage. Furthermore, "White Power" racist groups have been discussed in the media for decades, if not centuries. The Ku Klux Klan was established in the final year of the United States' Civil War, 1865. The Nazis have been kicking about since the 1920's. Whereas, the racism which occurs in other sub-races does not appear to get nearly as much media attention, most likely because non-whites were excluded from most western governments until relatively recently, and thus, perhaps, the racism of such groups was viewed as either not newsworthy or perhaps, in some quarters, as a justified reaction to the racism of Caucasians.

The United States, in particular, because of its highly ethnically diverse populace, appears to manifest racism more than most countries, and indeed, the U.S. Government itself has a long and dishonorable history of racism. Racism was employed by the U.S. Government against Native Americans for as long as the United States Government has existed, and many of the members of Congress throughout the years (for example former South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond) have employed racism as a means of preventing minorities from obtaining rights equal to those of the Caucasian citizenry.

When the Government in control of a huge, ethnically diverse population, employs racism as a matter of policy, and media provides a one-sided coverage of racism as an issue, it is not difficult to understand why many people hold the mistaken view that only white people can be racist.

There are racism anywhere and everywhere. I certainly don't think white people are the only racist people in the world. It might seem that way because of their discriminative actions are much more visible throughout the history, such as colonialism, Aria superiority propaganda in Germany, slavery in America, and discrimination before the Martin Luther King era.

actually, white people seems racist because when we say nigga, its a racial slur, when blacks say nigga...its all cool. Since pretty much all racial slurs are takin into context and used other ways by their own people and color, then there really is no such thing as a racial slur. If your black and you have ever said nigga, and someone says nigga to you, and you call them a racist, your just a lying hypocrit.

White people tend to be seen by other races, as having no race.

To be more specific.. racists of other races tend to see white people as having no race. Much like white people never being seen as a minority, regardless of the actual population content. And if you are not the minority, you are the racist.
