Why does CrunchBase tend to be more informative than company's own site? Are marketing companies afraid they'd lose leads by being clear?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It is a case of two separate goals. Crunch base is a database of info on companies. Being that database is their goal. The goal of the companies website bio is to sell that company to you. You have to ask what is in it for them? There is more benefit to just spew cold facts for Crunch Base. For the company it is better to polish those facts. Their only goal is to make them look and sound good so you buy their product.
