Why does caffeine help treat headaches but also cause them once you stop using it?

Caffeine can cause headaches if you are addicted to it and stop ingesting it. The headache is a withdrawal symptom.

M$You can tell if it's a high blood pressure thing by drinking a little liquid magnesium (I use Natural Calm as being quickly absorbed). It relaxes muscles and blood vessels. It gets many of my migraines. If it doesn't chase it, then I take the Excedrin if it's before 2 p.m.

M$Actually you have it backwards, easyeboy. Caffeine is actually a vasoCONSTRICTOR which helps migraines by making the blood vessels smaller.
I'm not sure what to do. The facts seem to be unclear. I'm a migraine suffer and have been told many times that Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor not a vasodilator as you surmise. Migraines are sometimes caused by low blood pressure in the brain. Caffeine constricts the blood vessels in the base of the neck which actually increases the blood pressure.
Since my blood pressure has always run on the low side this made sense. When I actually did a search tho I find that half the sites say Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor and half vasodilator.
