Why does Audacity speed up every mp3 that i export automatically?

Every time I record something on audacity, it'll playback as the right speed. But after I save it and open it onto iTunes, it's like twice it's speed.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I ran into this problem also. It has to do with the sample rate of the exported mp3 file being to high for the player. Meaning the fault is with itunes not aduacity.

So technically your mp3 is fine it is itunes that is playing it fast.
Set your audacity project rate at 44100 Hz see if that works.
I suspect if you dowlload vlc http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
and play those same files they will not play fast. But changing the sampling rate in your audacity preferences should do the trick, plus make sure you have up to date versions of itunes and quicktime etc.

You have to change the bit rate. You probably have the bit rate set at 48000Hz or similar. Change the bit rate in the options of Audacity and your sound card (this varies depending on your operating system - look up "how to change bit rate on soundcard") to 41000Hz or 41kHz.
