Why do you think the Republicans dislike Obama so much?

Do you think them not supporting the reforms, that would help millions of Americans, is personal? Is it because the Republician party is the (few)wealthy people that reforms would effect? Do you think it could lay deeper with the fact that Americans (if their is a Health Care is reformed) would no longer be forced to go into as much debt (thus supporting/paying out to the bankers/republicans) because of the thousands in medical bills? Do you think it's because the Republicans would no longer be able to buy better and faster health care because personal income would no longer have a baring on the health care you are provided?

Personal dislike in politics carries very little weight. You have the examples of Hillary now a key Obama cabinet member, or LBJ accepting the VP under JFK.

The primary reason that members of the Republican, and for that matter Libertarian parties, disdain the Obama administration and the health care reform legislation in particular, is how they perceive it to be as far reaching, immensely costly and based on a "government knows best" philosophy. Remember, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office itself has stated, that in its present form, the health care legislation is fiscally unsustainable.

For most Republicans, it is frustrating to see a populist fervor take shape, based more on a cult of personality revolving around Obama, rather than substance.

The fiscal and economic consequences of enormous government entitlement plans, as perceived by Republicans, affects all economic segments of the country. Higher taxes erodes business investment, which in turn erode economic expansion, which in turn erodes employment prospects, which in turn affects even the lowest on the social ladder.

The Republicans look with concern at a Democratic agenda which attempts to engage in social engineering while having to finance these ventures with money literally borrowed from future generations. They often cite the example of Argentina under Peron; when in short course, it went from a first world nation to a third world nation by following a leader focused on populist charm, massive spending and little fiscal responsibility.

In essence, it is not that Republicans dislike Obama, rather it is that they have decided to draw a line in the sand on health care reform and defend a political philosophy which they hold true; even if its counter to a populist oriented President.

Republicans: How then do you rate former President Bush and the fiscal and economic consequences of his (Republican) policies?

He certainly is challenging the status quo with the healthcare issue. The Republican party is for the status quo, if some big guys lose money, they lose campaign money.

Another thing they are upset about is the EFCA (employee free choice act) which will help support union organization. According to American Rights at Work, initial advertising figures seem to be approaching around $120 million, coming from the Chamber of Commerce, the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, Employee Freedom Action Committee, and Freedom's Watch. I don't know the current status of the bill now.

The tone of the Republican dissent in many cases has been nasty, no matter who the Democratic opponent is. I don't think that civil debate is part of their way of being.

The Republicans hate him so much because they are told to hate him by the Conservative media. Someone on youtube actually said
"obama will never measure UP to President George Bush. He will be a typical democrat in the history books. Nothing specail." Most of the Republicans are not going to give Obama a chance, and they are blind to the good work Obama is doing, and the hole the last president put this country in.

Republicans hate Obama because he beat them in the election. They are still buttsore from their loss of the election that they will do anything to stop him, including being overly partisan in opposing his policies.

It stems deeper however. With the advent of No Child Left Behind, the Republicans had begun a long term plan to dominate the White House for good. The plan was to slow down education to the slowest student in each class's level so that the general populace becomes poorly educated, and thus more likely to believe and support Republican lies, fearmongering, and policy control. We all know that more education, especially college, can lead to a higher likelihood of liberalism, because knowledge is power. By limiting the populace's access to this education and ensuring that public education is likewise as poor, they have set in motion a long term plan to develop a serious core constituency.

The Republican plan to dumb down Americans so that they are more easily controlled was somewhat foiled by Obama's election victory. Not completely however, as they are currently being entirely partisan and would likely enjoy seeing the economy crumble further so that it can be blamed on Obama, even if the Republicans themselves are actually the cause.
