Why do you think Philip Rizk was taken by Egyptian police and will he be released anytime soon?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Rizk was released a couple days ago without even being charged, the Egyptian government still hasn't explained why they detained him and the German government isn't too happy about that.

His arrest and the government’s refusal to provide any information while he was in custody provoked a tremendous international response. The German government and legions of former and current classmates and professors rushed to the defense of Mr. Rizk, a dual Egyptian-German citizen who studied at Wheaton College in Illinois and is a graduate student at American University in Cairo.

The New York Times reports that he had been very active in events and activities protesting and criticizing Gaza, and that the Egyptian government is seemingly cracking down on any such activity.

Gotta believe though that the mounting international coverage of his case will get him released soon...hopefully.
