Why do you think Blizzard Entertainment never moved one of his major titles to consoles?

I was wondering, why Blizzard Entertainment never developed a console version for their Starcraft, Warcraft or Diablo games? Obviously Blizzard has the resources, but looks like they are not interested in creating any video game related to the plots from these series for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Am I wrong? Since Diablo is a hack-and-slash RPG, why it’s not available on consoles? Do you think they will lose money if they invest in a project like this?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Actually a few of their titles did make it onto major consoles throughout the years, besides being on PC and Mac. Some of them had slightly better success than others. One of the problems is bringing a real-time strategy game to a console is the controls. With a keyboard and mouse you have easy, fluid control over your troops and management. With console controllers, it's not as easy due to using the D-pad and such.

One of their early console titles was The Lost Vikings which appeared on the Amiga, Amiga CD32, Game Boy Advance, MS-DOS, Sega Mega Drive, and the SNES.

Warcraft II appeared on MS-DOS, Linux, AmigaOS 4, Mac OS, Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and Microsoft Windows.

Diablo DID appear on the Playstation system, along with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.

Starcraft showed up on the N64 along with Microsoft Windows and Mac.

and Diablo 3 on a console is a "maybe":

Actually the skills required to make console games are quite different to PC games. The biggest difference is the licensing and packaging requirements which are quite complex and the environments are quite different too. You have to skill up on the special libs for the consoles and their dedicated hardware.
For console only companies it generally takes a few years to get a grip on a new platform and make optimized solutions.
Probably Blizzard just never bothered. Also there is some elitism that they may well feel towards the consoles and their dedicated controllers as opposed to the fast mice and more customization available in PC games.
