Why do women get hair under their chins as they age?

What causes hair to grow in certain places? At what age does hair under your chin start to grow? Should I shave under chin hair or pluck? If I pluck chin hair will it grow back? How long does it take chin hair to grow?

My understanding is that estrogen levels drop at certain times in our cycle and THAN the testosterone becomes more evident. I am still confirming that but it makes sense from my experiences. Shaving does NOT make hair come in thicker. It only FEELS more coarse as it first comes in and than softens as is the case when I skip shaving my legs for a bit.

Plucking on the other hand thickens the hair because the root reacts to being removed. I have noticed that a few brow hair I pluck have thickened over the years. I have shaved my chin for years now and its still the same 4 hairs coming in.

Chin hair is whiskers. Just like a man, just not as much of it. Matter of fact, many men grow thick beards because they shave.

Plucking chin hair removes it for a couple of days, but it grows back pretty quickly. I would totally not recommend that you shave. As I said before, shaving will make the hair grow.

Women get hair on their chin based on the amount of testosterone that is in their system. All women have some testosterone hormone in their bodies. Since this is a male hormone, it will cause some women to grow a little rougher hair on their chins.

Usually pre-menopausal women, within the mid 30's to mid 40's for the most part. Some earlier, and some later, of course.

I think that the best way to counter chin hair is to get a wax job done. This will remove the hair for a longer time, and the hair that grows back will not be as stiff. Or electrolysis is another option, where the hair follicle (the root of the hair) will be burned and it will not grow back at all.
