Why do some say the moon landing was a hoax?

I think some people don't believe we humans have the ability to accomplish great things, and survive in hostile environments. Therefore, we cannot have gone to the moon, and therefore it must all be a hoax.

Another theory could be that JFK committed the nation to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960's, NASA was falling behind in the race, and it was cheaper to create the elaborate hoax of pretending to have men on the moon.

The best answer I saw (albeit a gross generalization for conspiracy theorists overall) is that people like to believe that they are in control. Things they can't imagine or understand make them feel "out of control" so it's safer for them to "decide" that "that's impossible".

They no longer feel challenged or confronted by their lack of control or education and settle into an often irrational view that is immune to logic or proof that they themselves did not provide.

Couple that with a subconsious lack of initiative to challenge their own short comings and you have the quissentential conspiracy theorist.

The conspiracy of the Moon landing being a hoax has gone on for awhile. The reason that I think it's a conspiracy is because we were in a race with the Russians to reach to Moon first. Some think that because we were so admit about getting there first that the government filmed in a studio or somewhere to ensure that we got there first. I don't know exactly but there are people who have analyzed the Moon landing video and say there are certain parts to it that would give the impression it was fake. I personally I believe we did actually land on the moon and it's a crazy conspiracy.

one reason was because the camera appears to follow the return vehicle when they leave the moon, like it is being operated from the "surface" another was the flag appears to wave in the "breeze"

Some people do not trust one single solitary thing the government does, particularly when a liberal is running the show. Some people just have a few rocks loose.

The same reason some say 9/11 was a government conspiracy.

Governments do many things that most citizens will never know about. We will never know simply because we don't need to know or understand the intricate details of certain things. The White House likely deals with threats on a daily basis. We don't hear about those threats because we don't need to. The government takes care of them, and that's that. Most citizens realize this - that there are a lot of things we don't know about our government. Most of us can handle that and understand it's a necessary, inherent aspect of the government/citizen relationship.

A small minority are frightened or paranoid. They don't necessarily want to rock the boat or spread distrust. They just have a strong inclination to question everything that has to do with the government.

And who really knows what goes on? Only the government, right? So isn't there a small chance that their speculations are correct?
